Lending Club Corp. has hired Chaomei Chen, a former JPMorgan Chase & Co. executive, as the peer-to-peer loan facilitator's chief risk officer.
Chen, who most recently oversaw Washington Mutual's credit card portfolio at JPMorgan Chase, will handle the expansion of the risk-management function and infrastructure to expand Lending Club's portfolio of prime consumer credit, Lending Club announced Thursday.
"Chaomei has developed a reputation for innovative thinking and intellectual rigor," Renaud Laplanche, Lending Club's chief executive, said in a press release. "She will fit right in with the team. We are very excited to have her on board."
Chen said in the release, "I see enormous potential in Lending Club as a leading player in consumer credit, and their innovative approach immediately sparked my interest."
