Office Depot Inc. has agreed to use electronic check acceptance services from First Data Corp.'s TeleCheck Services Inc. subsidiary.
The Denver processing company announced the deal Monday, and said that Office Depot, of Delray Beach, Fla., plans to roll out the service in its more than 1,000 stores this fall.
TeleCheck's acceptance service enables merchants, at the point of sale, to convert customers' paper checks into automated clearing house payments, which settle faster than checks. The company said that more than 138,000 merchant locations use the service.
