In Brief: RSA, McAfee Developing Security Tools

RSA Security Inc., a San Francisco unit of the Hopkinton, Mass., data storage vendor EMC Corp., has teamed up with McAfee Inc. of Santa Clara, Calif., to develop an online banking security product.

RSA and McAfee said Wednesday that they plan to develop a way for RSA's Adaptive Authentication system and McAfee's consumer desktop security products to communicate with one another securely to improve bank's authentication practices.

Adaptive Authentication analyzes dozens of factors, including Internet addresses and browser and device characteristics, to provide a second factor of authentication and identify potential fraud. McAfee sells a variety of anti-virus, PC firewall, and other security products.
