In Brief: First Republic Arm Hires U.S. Trust Exec

First Republic Bank hired Randy Peterson, a U.S. Trust executive, as a managing director in the San Francisco bank's investment management arm, Trainer Wortham & Co.

Mr. Peterson, whose hiring was announced Tuesday, was a senior vice president and senior portfolio manager for U.S. Trust, where he worked for eight years. Before that he had been an investment officer for Wells Fargo & Co.

He is the second U.S. Trust employee hired to work at Trainer Wortham in as many days. On Monday it hired Brett Berry to be a managing director. Mr. Berry was also a senior vice president and senior portfolio manager at U.S. Trust.

First Republic had $16.3 billion of assets under management and administration at Sept. 30 in its investment management groups. Trainer Wortham managed $4.7 billion.
