In Brief: Diebold Buys an ATM Factory in India

The North Canton, Ohio, automated teller machine company Diebold Inc. has bought an ATM manufacturing plant in Goa, India, from Tata Infotech Ltd. of Bombay.

Diebold announced the purchase Friday but did not say how much it paid.

The 30,000-square-foot plant will be renamed Diebold Goa Manufacturing and will supply ATMs for customers in India and neighboring countries.

Tata Infotech established the plant under a 2002 deal to build ATMs for Diebold.

Diebold employs about 60 people in India. Last year about 10% of its business came from the Asia-Pacific region.
