First BanCorp, the parent of FirstBank Puerto Rico, said Friday that president and chief executive Angel Alvarez Perez has resigned and that chief financial officer Annie Astor-Carbonell will retire Oct. 31.
Mr. Alvarez will retire as chairman on Dec. 31 and Luis Beauchamp, the head of the wholesale banking division, will be promoted to president and chief executive, the San Juan company said in a press release.
On Aug. 11 the company asked the Securities and Exchange Commission for an extension of the deadline for filing its second-quarter earnings report to review the accounting for some of its mortgage loan purchases since 2000.
