In Brief: Capital One to Cut Jobs, Use First Data

Capital One Corp. plans to move most of its production services operations to First Data Corp. and eliminate about 750 positions in the states of Washington and Virginia.

The transition will begin immediately and continue through the summer of next year, Capital One said Tuesday in a press release.

The McLean, Va., company plans to eliminate all 260 positions in Federal Way, Wash., by March. It will cut 490 jobs in Richmond, Va., but keep the other 230 employees there.

Capital One said First Data, of Denver, would offer jobs to some of the affected employees.
