In Brief: Amex Card for American Airlines

American Express Co. announced Monday that it will begin issuing a frequent-flier cobranded corporate charge card with American Airlines Inc. in the third quarter. The Business ExtrAA card will offer middle-market companies rewards and rebates as high as 10% on most unrestricted fare classes in exchange for travel spending. It also offers points good for awards in American's existing business loyalty program.

The deal is noteworthy in part because American currently partners with Citibank on a rewards card targeted to consumers. Amex's corporate travel agency already teams up with American to offer Web site fares.
