In Brief: American River to Buy Bank of Amador

American River Bankshares of Sacramento said Friday that it had agreed to buy the $130 million-asset Bank of Amador in Jackson for $30.5 million in stock and cash, or $19.50 a share.

The purchase would give American River $560 million of assets and 11 offices: three Bank of Amador branches in Amador County, three North Coast Bank branches in Sonoma County, and five American River Bank branches in the Sacramento area.

The 21-year-old Bank of Amador would retain its name and management and would operate as a division of American River.

The deal, expected to close in the fourth quarter, is the 12th involving the acquisition of a California bank or thrift so far this year. Fifteen such deals were announced in the same period last year.
