In Brief: ACB Adds 26 Banks to Nasdaq Index

America's Community Bankers has added 26 banks to its Nasdaq bank index.

The index, which was started in December 2003, includes more than 500 banks and thrifts listed on Nasdaq. It excludes the 50 largest banks and thrifts and any bank with an international or credit card specialization. New companies are added each June 1 and Dec. 1.

The trade group said Wednesday that the additions range from the $28.7 billion-asset Compass Bancshares Inc. of Birmingham, Ala., which recently fell from the ranks of the biggest banks, to the $77 million-asset Liberty Bell Bank in Cherry Hill, N.J., which opened its doors 21 months ago.
