Huntington Lures International Banker from Fifth Third Bank

Huntington Bancshares (HBAN) has hired a veteran executive from Fifth Third Bancorp (FITB) to lead its international banking business.

The Columbus, Ohio, company said Friday it has named Sheila Spradlin Reich managing director, international banking. Reich, who is expected to build up Huntington's lending to companies that do business overseas, led a team of international bankers at Fifth Third, where she most recently served as managing director for government and institutional banking.

"Sheila has a proven track record of success with more than 20 years of experience in the international space," Rick Remiker, managing director of Huntington's specialty banking division, said in a news release. "She brings an extraordinary history of building successful businesses right here in the Midwest."

Spradlin is at least the third veteran banker to join Huntington in the past month. In October, the company lured Paul Heller from JPMorgan Chase (JPM) to be chief technology and operations officer. Earlier this month, Huntington recruited Susan Baker Shipley, a former executive with RBS Citizens Financial Group, to be president of its western Pennsylvania and Ohio Valley region.
