FreeScore LLC now offers an iPhone app that consumers can use to receive their credit scores and calculate mortgage rates.
FreeScore said its app, which it announced Friday, would also be helpful to real estate agents to look up current interest rates and estimate refinancing rates. A feature called Find a Home can be used to determine whether prospective homeowners would be able to afford the homes they are interested in buying.
The app also provides credit-related news and the ability to compare their credit scores with other consumers' scores by ZIP code. Carrie Coghill, FreeScore's director of consumer education, called the app "a mobile touchpoint to help [users] track their credit and make sure there are no surprises."
Consumers could use the app to "see if the house you're standing in is affordable," she said in a press release.
