Former Rep. Bill Owens has been named a director of Arrow Financial in Glen Falls, N.Y.
Owens, a blue dog Democrat, represented New York's 21st congressional district until the beginning of this year. He practiced business and tax law for more than 30 years before taking office in a hotly contested special election in 2009. Owens retired from his upstate New York seat after several narrowly decided races. He served on the House Appropriations Committee.
Owens "brings to our board a deep knowledge and understanding of the North Country and Plattsburgh region-an important market for our company-as well as extensive business experience and a strong commitment to his community," said Tom Murphy, the $2.2 billion-asset Arrow's president and chief executive.
Arrow is the holding company for Glens Falls National Bank and Trust and Saratoga National Bank and Trust, as well as three property and casualty insurance agencies and an investment advisory firm.
