First Citizens in N.C. Appoints CFO

First Citizens BancShares (FCNCA) in Raleigh, N.C., has named a former Royal Bank of Canada (RY) executive to be its chief financial officer.

Glenn McCoy started the job Monday, the $21 billion-asset company said in a news release. He joined First Citizens in December as executive vice president of finance. He had been CFO of RBC Bank (USA), the retail banking subsidiary of Royal Bank of Canada that PNC Financial Group (PNC) bought last year . Earlier, he held the CFO position at several divisions of the old Wachovia.

He replaces Ken Black, who retired on March 31 after more than 25 years with First Citizens, the news release said.

McCoy is responsible for First Citizens’ corporate finance functions, as well as corporate real estate and vendor procurement and management.

McCoy "provides an insightful perspective and has vast experience in all areas of corporate finance and banking," Chairman and Chief Executive Frank Holding Jr. said in the news release. "His knowledge and expertise will help us move our company forward while we remain focused on the financial fundamentals that have made us successful through the years."
