E-Trade Financial Corp. said Thursday that its securities unit has introduced mobile deposit for the iPhone.
Customers can use the feature to electronically deposit checks to their brokerage or E-Trade Bank accounts remotely. The company plans to roll out the same capability for Android smartphones this year.
"Investors are increasingly managing their day-to-day and long-term financial plans via hand-held devices, and we believe our new mobile deposit capability will be well-received by customers and prospects given the added convenience," Michael Curcio, president of E-Trade Securities LLC, said in a news release. "E-Trade is focused on delivering the tools, support and technology that enable customers to more easily manage their money."
Besides mobile deposit, the New York-based company introduced complex options trading for the iPhone and Android for its Mobile Pro application. Android users also can now stream customizable charts and quotes for real-time market data and access CNBC Video on Demand.
