Diebold to Help Louisiana Bank Upgrade ATMs to Windows 7

First Federal Bank of Louisiana in Lake Charles has hired Diebold to upgrade its ATMs to run on the Windows 7 operating system from Windows XP.

Microsoft has said it will stop supporting XP on April 8. Diebold will also install the ATMs with Agilis 3 software and new encrypting PIN pads.

"Our primary goal at the self-service channel is to provide convenient, secure transactions for our customers," Charles Timpa, president and chief executive of the $877 million-asset First Federal Bank, said in a Thursday press release. "Diebold's upgrades will bring all of our ATMs fully up to date with software and security features required for PCI compliance."

"First Federal Bank of Louisiana is among the first institutions to proactively address the migration to Windows 7," Mychal Kempt, Diebold's vice president of North America operations, said in the release. "We're encouraging all institutions to follow the bank's lead to get this migration on their schedules well before the April 2014 deadline."
