Commerzbank Sees EUR80M Charge Related To Subprime Crisis

FRANKFURT (Dow Jones)-- Commerzbank AG (CBK.XE) will take a EUR80 millioncharge related to the U.S. subprime lending crisis, a spokesman told Dow JonesNewswires Monday.

Of this, EUR40 million will be booked in the second quarter, and the rest inthe third quarter.

"From what we can see today, we expect a charge of EUR80 million," thespokesman said.

Commerzbank's total exposure to subprime is EUR1.2 billion, he added.

The bank is sticking to its full-year target, however, and still aims toexceed an after-tax return on equity of 12%.
