WASHINGTON Two officials at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau have been named into key roles, the agency confirmed Tuesday.
Tony Alexis, who has been with the agency since 2012, has been promoted to serve as director of enforcement at the CFPB. His predecessor, Kent Markus, will become a senior advisor to the CFPB's second in command, Steven Antonakes.
Alexis was previously the deputy assistant director of enforcement. Markus has been in leadership roles within enforcement at the CFPB since 2011, when the agency was just getting off the ground. Prior to that, Markus was chief legal counsel and chief ethics officer for the State of Ohio (CFPB Director Richard Cordray was previously the attorney general for Ohio).
Alexis spent 13 years as an assistant U.S. Attorney in Washington and then as a partner at Mayer Brown law firm before joining the CFPB in 2012.
