BBVA Compass is in the early stages of developing a mobile-banking application for the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet. The Birmingham, Ala., unit of Spanish banking giant Banco Bilbao Viscaya Argentaria previewed a version of the application on Tuesday at the Future of Mobile Banking Conference in London.
BlackBerry products are manufactured by Research in Motion Ltd. BBVA Compass also has developed apps for Apple Inc.'s iPad and iPhone as well as Google Inc.'s Android devices. "We are committed to providing our customers the ability to bank via their mobile device of choice," Alex Carriles, BBVA Compass' senior vice president and director of mobile and internet strategies, said in a news release Tuesday.
