BB&T Corp. of Winston-Salem, N.C., agreed to use antifraud software from Actimize Inc. of New York to improve its online banking security.
The vendor announced the deal Monday. BB&T will use Actimize's eBanking Fraud Prevention, which analyzes customers' login behavior and online transactions to spot activities that may indicate a fraudster has taken over an account. It also monitors offline transactions.
Actimize says this method of monitoring spots 90% of fraud incidents and generates few false positives.
