Bank of Taiwan Gains Fed Approval for NYC Branch

The Federal Reserve has approved an application from the Bank of Taiwan to open a branch in New York.

The $135 billion-asset company plans to use the branch to provide financing, syndicated lending and foreign-exchange trading, the Fed said in a press release Tuesday.

Other activities could include purchasing and holding securities and offering remittances, the release said.
