Wells Fargo (WFC) is offering its retail customers free access to their credit scores between now and Nov. 15.
The nationwide promotion overlaps with Get Smart About Credit Day, sponsored by the American Bankers Association, which falls on Oct. 18.
"We want our customers to feel empowered to take charge of their credit," Tom Wolfe, the head of Wells Fargo's consumer credit solutions group, said in a press release, "and we believe we have an important role in providing the access and information that will help them do just that."
To take advantage of the offer, customers will need to visit a Wells branch to obtain an access code.
Normally consumers must pay to access their credit scores, though they can get a free credit report each year through annualcreditreport.com.
The San Francisco banking giant is also launching a month-long campaign to educate communities across the United States about using credit responsibly.
