Grafton Suburban CU Renamed, Now Homefield CU

Grafton Suburban Credit Union now has a new name.

The $129 million credit union said in a press release Wednesday that it will now officially be known as Homefield Credit Union. The North Grafton, Mass.-based credit union voted last October for this strategic alternative renaming due to the company's membership growth into neighboring communities including Worcester and Middlesex counties.

"We believe that the name Homefield Credit Union best represents our continued commitment to all of our local communities, and also signifies a safe, stable and local credit union ready to serve as headquarters for all of the financial needs of our current as well as our future members," Lloyd Hamm, president and chief executive of the company, said in the release.

Homefield currently serves over 10,000 members.

Tinker CIO Recognized by Oklahoma State Univ.

Tinker FCU EVP/CIO Grant Woldum was honored for winning his fight against cancer by the Oklahoma State University Coches vs. Cancer. Woldum was recognized during a recent OSU basketball game.

An employee of Tinker FCU since 2003, Woldum said, "I certainly don't feel like I did anything warranting any honor. I am just a survivor who wants other people to know there is hope and there are things we can to affect our outcomes in life."

Woldum was diagnosed in 1987 with teratocarcinoma, a form of testicular cancer. Not only did he manage to beat the disease, he also beat the odds: many survivors of this cancer are unable to father children. While Woldum and his wife, Karen, already had one daughter and another on the way when he was diagnosed, they were able to have two more children after Woldum's illness.

Coaches vs. Cancer is a national collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
