Truliant Federal Credit Union in Winston-Salem, North Carolina is ramping up its presence in South Carolina.
Truliant announced plans to build three branches in the northwest corner of the state. The $4 billion-asset credit union also recently opened a regional office in Greenville, South Carolina.
The new branches — slated for Greenville, Greer and Easley—– will open by the end of 2023. Truliant has another branch in Greenville that opened in 2016.
"Over the next several years, the upstate will represent a significant percentage of our overall expansion," Todd Hall, Truliant's president and CEO, said in a press release. "Our contiguous strategy south along the I-85 corridor is the next logical step for Truliant. This area aligns perfectly with our growth strategy."
The upstate South Carolina locations will form the fourth regional concentration of Truliant branches. The other regions are in the Charlotte-Metro area, the Piedmont Triad area of North Carolina and southwestern Virginia.
In addition to serving as its business lending center, the new regional office in Greenville will provide operational support for Truliant's branch expansion.
During the last three years, the credit union's offices in North Carolina and Virginia have added additional services for mortgages, business services, insurance services, financial advisors, indirect lending and digital services. Truliant said it will offer all of these in South Carolina.
Truliant earned $23.4 million in the first six months of 2022, a 10% increase from a year earlier, according to call report data from the National Credit Union Administration.
Truliant has more than 30 branches across its North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia footprint to serve its 293,000 members.
