Midland CU Intro's Dwolla

URBANDALE, Iowa-The $35-million Midland Credit Union has rolled out online, mobile, social and location-based payments solution Dwolla. The credit union had earlier added Dwolla's integration product, FiSync, which allows an institution to connect the payment platform directly to its existing systems. The advantage for the FI's customers is an expedited Dwolla sign-up process, the company said.

The credit union said that after signing up for a Dwolla account - a process estimated to take less than a minute - members will be able to make payments to anyone with an email address, as well as their Facebook and Twitter friends. In addition, members will be able to download the Dwolla mobile application.

Separately, Des Moines, Iowa-based Dwolla, which is supported by The Members Group, has added text messaging and LinkedIn connections to its list of ways users can make every day financial transactions.

"A Dwolla user who wants to pay a friend or family member via text simply enters the recipient's mobile phone number at Dwolla.com or selects a cell phone contact in Dwolla's mobile iOS app," the company said. "This triggers a text message to the recipient. The recipient then follows the instructions in the text to accept the payment and initiate the transfer of funds into his or her Dwolla account."
