SAN JOSE, Calif.-Robert Marinace, who successfully helped lead the charge against Technology CU's proposed conversion to a bank charter died Oct. 14. He was 84.
Marinace's death comes just weeks after Tech CU members voted against the conversion, but the fight is not over, yet, according to Paula Martin, another member of the SaveTCU group that helped beat back the conversion effort. Martin told Credit Union Journal that SaveTCU's next big push will be to oust the existing board, but noted that a recent bylaws change adopted by the board may make that more difficult.
In a recent newsletter sent to members, TCU's board announced that the California Department of Financial Institutions approved the amendments requiring that candidates for the board be nominated by either the Nominating Committee, through an application process or by petition.
