South Jersey Federal Credit Union names new CEO

South Jersey Federal Credit Union, a $352 million institution based in Deptford, N.J., announced that it has named Ernest D. Huggard as its new president and chief executive officer.

Huggard, a certified public accountant and charted global management accountant, previously served as executive vice president and chief financial officer at the credit union. He also serves on the New Jersey Credit Union League board of directors.

A spokesperson for the credit union told Credit Union Journal by email that former CEO Rahul Kachru’s contract expired on Dec. 31, 2017.

"We are thrilled to welcome Ernie into his new role as chief executive officer,” said Dr. Anthony DiFabio, chairman of the board of directors. “Ernie’s dedication to the Southern New Jersey region and his proven leadership skills will help to enhance the SJFCU experience for both employees and members."

Huggard earned his B.S. from LaSalle University in Philadelphia, and his Masters of Business Studies from Stockton University in Galloway Township, N.J.

SJFCU posted net income of about $633,000 in 2017, down from $818,000 in the prior year.
