Louisiana Credit Union League hires nonprofit vet to be CEO

The Louisiana Credit Union League appointed Matt Rookard as its next president and chief executive.

Rookard, who is currently the president and CEO of the Terrebonne Economic Development Authority in Houma, Louisiana, will begin his new roles overseeing the LCUL May 2. He succeeds Bob Gallman, who had led the trade group since 2017 and retired in March.

“The League board believes Matt is very much aligned with our collective values, culture and shared vision for the organization … working together, we look forward to strengthening and expanding our footprint throughout Louisiana,” Steve Webb, vice chair of LCUL’s board and president and CEO of the $1.2 billion-asset Neighbors Federal Credit Union in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, said in a press release Thursday.

Outside of his present position, Rookard has also worked to launch economic relief grants for businesses and individuals within the state such as the Bayou Business Recovery Grant Program and the Bayou Business Community Housing Initiative.

“My vision is to build on that history and help credit unions throughout the state deliver on their mission … our top priority is to ensure that the League remains a valuable resource for its members, focusing on both our advocacy work and the accessibility of new technology for our members,” Rookard said in the release.
