The Filene Research Institute has named Lauren Culp as the new manager of the Cooperative Trust, the mentorship and development program for young professionals within the credit union movement.
Culp succeeds
No stranger to Filene, Culp has been a member of the Cooperagive Trust, participated in the annual “Crash the GAC” event and served as a member of Filene’s i3 innovation team. She joins the Trust having most recently worked in a variety of capacities at True North FCU in Juneau, Alaska, focusing on business lending, developing community relationships and increasing back office efficiencies.
“She’s a big thinker and innovator,” said Tansley Stearns, chief impact officer for Filene. “She’s focused on business lending and understands the inside of a credit union; what it’s like to be a part of the Trust; and has a strong passion to keep evolving the Trust to ensure the relevancy of our industry and to make sure credit unions win the war for talent.”
Culp credited her experience with the Trust as having helped spark her desire to build a career in the credit union movement.
"The Cooperative Trust is such a unique network with lots of current impact and potential for even more,” Culp said. “Incredible people created and nurtured the Trust, and I'm thrilled to focus my time and energy on maturing the program even further. Crashing the GAC with the Trust sparked that 'aha!' moment for me in terms of building a career in the credit union industry, so it's an incredible opportunity and honor to give other young credit union professionals the same experience."
