Indiana Members Credit Union names new CEO

Indiana Members Credit Union in Indianapolis has promoted John Newett to become its next president and chief executive.

The $3 billion-asset institution announced that Newett, who joined IMCU in 2011 and was most recently its senior vice president of operations, took on the role of president effective immediately and will work alongside longtime CEO Ron Collier until his retirement on Dec. 31. Newett will additionally take on the role of CEO at that time.

“John’s dedication, leadership, strong financial background and proven success position him well for this role … our board of directors is confident that John will continue to build on the IMCU legacy of member service, growth and success,” Robert E. Martin, the chairman of the board, said in a press release Tuesday.

Newett is a member of the Central Indiana Franciscan Health Foundation, the National Association of Federally-Insured Credit Unions Legislative Committee, the Audit and Finance Committee of the Indiana Credit Union League and other state organizations.

“I look forward to leading IMCU’s efforts as we continue to strive to be the best financial institution for our members, and a top workplace and partner in the communities we serve,” Newett said in the release.
