Education Credit Union in Texas snags Georgia executive for next CEO

Education Credit Union in Amarillo, Texas, has named Eric Jenkins as its next president and CEO.

Gregg Bynum, who has led the $268 million-asset credit union for 22 years, is retiring, Education CU said on Thursday.

Jenkins was previously chief deposit services officer for the $1.3 billion-asset Georgia United Credit Union in Duluth, Ga., since 2014. He was responsible for all areas of operations at Georgia United, including loan and deposit operations, card services, payment services, and member support services.

Prior to Georgia United CU, Jenkins was an executive at CU Partner Link for two years, and Georgia Credit Union Affiliates for four years. Before that, he was CEO at the $65 million Palmetto Health Credit Union for 10 years.

In its most recent call report, Education Credit Union earned $627,000 in the first quarter, more than double from the same period a year earlier. As of March 31, the institution was well capitalized with a net worth ratio of 13.89%.
