Edwin L. Williams, longtime president and chief executive of Discovery Federal Credit Union in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, is retiring.
The $181 million-asset credit union announced that Williams, who joined Discovery in 1997 as president and CEO, is planning to step down at the end of the year.
“In my role as a leader, I am fortunate to have worked with so many talented and passionate employees, volunteers and board of directors who helped create a forward-thinking organization focused on delivering exceptional service for the betterment and benefit of our member-owners,” Williams said in a press release Friday.
Williams was also a member of the boards of the Credit Union National Association, the National Credit Union Foundation, the Pennsylvania Credit Union Foundation and many other organizations.
“Ed is a visionary leader, a steward of credit union principles and values and a respected mentor and friend to the countless colleagues he has touched over the course of his career. … His impact on Discovery Federal Credit Union, the Berks County community and the national credit union industry truly cannot be overstated,” Robert Shaner, chair of Discovery’s board, said in the release.
The credit union’s board of directors has formed a CEO search committee and enlisted the help of Hubric Resources to assist in the selection of a successor.
