American Share Insurance names new CEO

American Share Insurance, the credit union-owned share insurance fund, has named Theresa Mason as its next president and chief executive.

Mason, who has been active in the Columbus, Ohio, market through her work with Grange Insurance and the Kansas City Life Insurance Co., will begin her new leadership positions with ASI effective April 18. She succeeds Dennis R. Adams, who has held the roles since 1990 and announced his retirement earlier this year.

“Throughout our conversations with Theresa, she stressed her collaborative and communicative leadership style … [which] dovetails perfectly with the business partner focus that ASI has with its member credit unions,” Libby Calderone, board chair of ASI, said in a press release Wednesday.

Mason holds membership positions with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Ohio Society of CPAs.

“The share insurance business is unique, and Theresa’s background as a CPA and insurance executive affords her the skills to lead this unique company,” Calderone said in the release.
