Help for the holidays: Credit unions in the community

Police partnership
Robins Financial Credit Union in Warner Robins, Ga. partnered with the Georgia State Patrol to collect holiday gifts in a Toys for Tots drive at its branches. Together they were able to provide approximately 250 toys and 20 bikes for kids in need.
PenFed-funded retreat debuts
The PenFed Foundation partnered with Serve Our Willing Warriors to open the PenFed Foundation Home at Warrior Retreat at Bull Run. The PenFed foundation contributed $300,000 to the effort, and the home is expected to serve more than 500 wounded service members and their families and caregivers each year. A ribbon-cutting ceremony, pictured here, was held last week.
Winning ticket
Northland Area Federal Credit Union celebrated member Dale Boudrie purchasing a winning ticket in the Michigan Credit Union League’s grand raffle. Boudrie won $1,000 in the raffle, which helps raise money for the league’s federal political action committee. He is pictured here with Jack Eling, senior vice president of lending at the credit union.
Interns explain financial literacy
Four interns at Sikorsky Credit Union delivered a lesson on financial literacy to students at Shelton Intermediate School.
Big winners
Samuel Kane, center, a member at Advantage One Credit Union, and Emma Compton, a teller there, both purchased winning tickets in the Michigan Credit Union League’s grand raffle program, which supports the league's federal PAC.
American Heritage adopts a family
Philadelphia-based American Heritage Credit Union raised nearly $23,000 for its adopt-a-family program this holiday season thanks to combined efforts from its members, staff and board of directors
Hospice donation
Employees and members at ABNB Federal Credit Union raised $880 and collected 45 teddy bears for Edmarc Hospice for Children during November and December.
Holiday raffle
Hanscom Federal Credit Union’s 2018 holiday raffle raised more than $13,000 for the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless Bed for Every Child initiative. That was a record-breaking level of volunteer and employee support from the credit union. Staff raised $6,544, which the institution matched equally. The donation is expected to provide more than 50 beds for children in need.
Teachers' wish lists granted
Vice presidents at Neighbors Federal Credit Union in Baton Rouge, La., fulfilled holiday wish lists by giving more than $7,000 in school supplies to teachers at Cristo Rey Franciscan High School, including reading materials, tables and writing supplies.
Gridiron givebacks
Mountain America Credit Union donated $15,000 to the Portneuf Health Trust through its Mountain America First Down Donation program. The CU is a sponsor of the Idaho State Bengals and committed to making a donation for every first down the football team completed during the past season.
Merrimack steps up to help the homeless
Merrimack Valley Credit Union gave $30,000 to homeless advocacy group Emmaus as part of its annual donation program.
