A former staff attorney with New York's city government has been named the top lawyer for the New York State Department of Financial Services.
The department named Celeste Koeleveld general counsel, according to a Tuesday news release. The New York banking regulator's general counsel position has been vacant since Daniel Alter resigned in February 2015, to become general counsel for the bitcoin exchange itBit,
Koeleveld will report to Maria Vullo, the agency's acting superintendent.
