Lloyds Banking Group in the U.K. has made Deborah McWhinney its third nonexecutive director. She joined the board at Lloyds Monday and also serves on its audit and risk committees.
McWhinney joined Citi in 2009 to run its personal wealth management business. In 2011 she became chief operating officer of global enterprise payments. She was promoted to chief executive of the division shortly before her resignation in 2013. While at Citi, she also co-chaired the Citibank Women Initiative.
Earlier in her career she worked at Charles Schwab Corp.'s division that serves financial advisers, as well as at Visa and Bank of America.

She has been a director at more than 20 public and privately held companies and scientific institutions. She currently sits on the board of the global engineering and construction firm Fluor, information and the analytics firm IHS and is a trustee for the California Institute of Technology and the Institute for Defense Analyses.
