Tompkins Financial in Ithaca, N.Y., has named Alyssa Fontaine general counsel.
The $5.6 billion-asset multibank holding company hired Fontaine to replace Ed Hooks, who has been its counsel since 1992 and who will retire at the end of the year.
Fontaine has been a partner since 2006 at law firm Harris Beach, where Hooks also works. She works on the financial institutions and capital markets industry team, which focuses on corporate transactional work, bank regulatory compliance and securities matters.
"Alyssa has worked on many legal projects for Tompkins Financial during the last several years," Steve Romaine, Tompkins' chief executive, said in a news release.
