SAN FRANCISCO Boston Private Financial Holdings Inc. said Thursday that it would buy Borel Bank and Trust Co. of San Mateo, Calif., one of the few independent private banks in Northern California.

Presidio Bank in San Francisco has named Larry Nibbi, a minority owner of the San Francisco Giants, to its board.
The $549 million-asset Presidio appointed Nibbi to the seat of Steve Oliver. Although Oliver resigned from the board, he will remain on Presidio's corporate responsibility committee and its East Bay advisory board.
Nibbi will also serve Presidio's corporate responsibility committee, as well as its loan committee and its San Mateo advisory board.
Nibbi is chief executive of Nibbi Brothers General Contractors, a Bay Area construction firm. He's also a member of the ownership group for Major League Baseball's Giants. Nibbi previously was a director at Borel Private Bank & Trust in San Mateo, Calif., which was acquired by Boston Private Bank & Trust in 2001
