Meta Financial Group in Sioux Falls, S.D., has promoted Cindy Smith to the newly created position of head of technology and operations.
Smith joined the $2.5 billion-asset company in June as head of strategic initiatives. In her new role, she oversees operations, client relations, product development, marketing, and technology and information management enterprise-wide.
In a Nov. 4 news release, MetaBank president Brad Hanson nodded to her "combination of transformational and leadership qualities" and experience in emerging payments, technology and innovation.
Before joining Meta, Smith was director of client contact services and channel management at Zions Bancorp., where she has also been director of the BankCard product. Before that she worked at U.S. Bank in purchasing card product development and national account management.
Meta operates ten bank branches and a payments system that offers prepaid cards and other payments products and services.
