Banc of California in Irvine has named James McKinney its new chief financial officer.
McKinney joined the $6.4 billion-asset bank in September as chief accounting officer. About a week later, CFO Ronald Nicolas resigned and Banc of California began its search for a replacement. McKinney's promotion and Nicolas' resignation will take effect Nov. 15.
McKinney, who was 35 in August, will retain his position as principal accounting officer after he becomes CFO. Nicolas will remain a consultant to Banc of California through March.
Before joining Banc of California, McKinney was the controller at aircraft lessor International Lease Finance, a subsidiary of American International Group. He has also worked at RBS Citizens Asset Finance, KPMG and the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.
