Banking technology firm Temenos has launched a tool designed to help banks integrate new IT systems with existing software.
The Temenos Integration Framework, introduced Thursday, is designed to allow banks to more quickly switch systems and integrate new technology offerings. It lets banks assemble IT systems using in-house components, software from third-party vendors or a mix of the two, and is intended to help these systems work together more smoothly.
The Commercial Bank of Africa in Nairobi, Kenya, used the Temenos Integration Framework to launch its mobile banking service, M-Shwari, after an implementation period of five months, Temenos said. The bank also uses Temenos' T24 core banking solution.
The product "enabled us to go live in five months when otherwise it would have taken three times longer," said Eric Muriuki Njagi, Commercial Bank of Africa's general manager of new business ventures, in the news release. "And, because we were able to launch so quickly without any issues, we have massively exceeded our business-case targets."
