Wells Fargo announced Monday that it's allowing its ATM customers to receive text message receipts.
The San Francisco bank said mobile customers who register their phone numbers will now be able to choose a SMS receipt option at the bank's roughly 12,000 ATMs.
Wells already offers email receipts. That service was launched in June 2010.
"We are excited to offer yet another 'green' choice and additional convenience to our customers when it comes to getting their banking done," said Wells' head of ATM banking, Alicia Moore, in a press release. "Today almost half of all receipt-eligible transactions at the ATM result in customers selecting an e-receipt or not printing a receipt. Our customers tell us they appreciate the ability to reduce paper waste text receipts just give them one more option."
