SunTrust Picks Fiserv System

Fiserv Inc. said SunTrust Banks Inc. will use its Mobile Money technology for mobile account access.

Fiserv, of Brookfield, Wis., also announced strong sales of its branch automation products.

SunTrust, of Atlanta, will offer mobile banking through text messages, a mobile Web page or a downloadable application. Customers will also be able to get account alerts on their phones.

"It is important to offer each of our clients the ability to easily access their account regardless of the type of mobile device they use," Ginger Schmeltzer, a senior vice president at SunTrust, said in a press release Monday.

Fiserv said Wednesday that First Banks Inc. in Clayton, Mo., will also use Mobile Money. First Banks has also signed on to use Fiserv's online financial management and bill-payment tools.

Fiserv's branch automation products, Teller and New Accounts for the Cleartouch teller system, have been adopted by more than a third of its clients for Cleartouch, the vendor said Wednesday.

"With the built-in search engines in Teller and New Accounts, we can get customers their information much more quickly," Mike Block, the vice president of information technology for Equitable Bank in Wauwatosa, Wis., said in a press release.
